Charlotte Ballam

When the sun is shining, the way forward is simple: long days on the beach punctuated with alfresco dining and hazy sunsets are what a luxury holiday in St Ives is made of. But what to do when you're struck with a rogue rainy day or are simply holidaying at a time of year when sunshine is a bit of a tall order? At the Sail Lofts you need venture no further than your luxury apartment - put your Nespresso coffee machine to work, sit back and take advantage of the Apple TV or indulge in a good book. You deserve it.

Wintery Walks

If unperturbed by the weather, there is little more satisfying than heading out for a bracing winter walk along Porthmeor beach, which lies just metres away from your door. Strike out into the elements, you'll be met with moody skies and dramatic seascapes and once you've blown away the cobwebs, make for the shelter of Porthmeor Cafe for a scalding hot chocolate or bowl of piping hot soup. Why not opt for one of their outside 'pods'? Furnished with a heater and blankets, you'll have everything you need to hunker down and watch the world go by. If you're staying in our dog friendly accommodation, your four legged friends are more than welcome to join you on Porthmeor's covered terrace, which is also heated. If you've had your fill of fresh sea air, take a stroll into town to while away the afternoon perusing the local boutiques and galleries.

When in St Ives, scheduling a visit to the Tate Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum is an absolute must and provides the perfect diversion for a rainy day. Both the Gallery and Museum are just a couple of minutes' walk from Sail Lofts luxury apartments and also just around the corner lies the renowned St Ives School of Painting where you can choose from a plethora of different courses that last anywhere from just 2.5 hours to spanning an entire week. Visit the School of Painting's website for full details.
