Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How close to the beach is the Sail Lofts?
A:

Very close – it is only about 20 metres across the road and down the slipway to Porthmeor Beach. The other beaches in St Ives are within easy walking distance.

Q: Does my holiday property have any additional sleeping capacity?
A:

The ‘bed capacity’ of each apartment is as stated on this website. We can provide companion beds but these are only suitable for children under the age of twelve. We do not allow additional guests, eg. sleeping on the floor.

Q: Do we need to bring our own bed linen?
A:

No, the beds in your apartment will be fully made up with luxury bed linen. If you are staying for more than a week, we will provide a change of bed linen after the first week. If you want additional bed linen laundered while you are staying at the property, we can arrange this for an additional charge, but we need to know in advance.

Q: Do you provide towels?
A:

Yes, each guest will be provided with one set of towels (one bath sheet and one hand towel). If you need additional towels, we can provide these on request for a small additional charge.

Q: What about beach towels?
A:

We provide each apartment with separate beach towels with an allowance of one per guest. Please do not use the white bathroom and shower room towels on the beach.

Q: Do I need to bring soap and toilet rolls?
A:

We provide two toilet rolls for each bathroom, a handmade artisan soap, and toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion.

Q: Are there laundry facilities?
A:

All our properties are fitted with a washer/dryer.

Q: What facilities are there in the kitchen?
A:

There is an electric hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher (Surf doesn't have a dishwasher). We provide all the usual cutlery, plates, glasses, pans, tea towels etc. We also have food processors and electric whisks available to borrow during your stay.

Q: Is there a television?
A:

Yes, there is a flat screen smart TV as standard in all apartments. Some properties have additional wall mounted TV’s in the master bedrooms and bathrooms. They all also receive the current digital FreeView channels. Each property also has an iStream DAB Digital Robert’s Radio and Bose Wireless sound system.

Q: Is there a telephone?
A:

No, but there is good mobile reception for most networks.

Q: Is there internet access?
A:

Yes we provide free Wi Fi. We will leave instructions and details of the networks on a blackboard in the kitchen or living room in the apartment.

Q: Is my property centrally heated?
A:

Yes, there is gas central heating and hot water in all properties. Details of how to use the heating and hot water system are contained in the information file, which you will find at the property on your arrival.

Q: How many sets of keys are there and how will I receive them?
A:

You will be provided with two sets of keys. We use a Master Lock key safe system at The Sail Lofts. Each apartment has its own key safe located either at the Main Entrance in Porthmeor Road (Driftwood, Beach, Bay, Ocean and Surf) or outside individual apartment’s (Slipway, Island, Godrevy, Lighhouse, Curno, Harbour, Zennor and 5 Bethesda Place). A key will be put in your apartment key safe prior to your arrival. 14 days before you arrive we will send you an email with the key safe code and details of where it’s located. Simply put in the 4-digit code and the key will be waiting for you. We will also leave a second set of keys on the kitchen table.

Q: When can we arrive on the first day of our holiday?
A:

The apartment will be ready any time after 5.00 p.m. on the day of your arrival

Q: When must we leave the property on the last day of our holiday?
A:

Please ensure you vacate the property by 10.00 am at the latest.

Q: If we arrive late, will we be able to shop for food?
A:

Yes. On your way into St. Ives, Tesco at Carbis Bay is open until 8pm, every day except Sunday. In the town, the Co-Op supermarket is generally open until around 10pm. The local store (Norway Stores) is often open until 9pm in the Summer.

Q: Is there a cot or high chair at the property?
A:

We have a range of travel cots, stair gates and high chairs. Please let us know when you book what you require, so we can put them in place before you arrive. Please note we do not provide bedding or bed linen for the travel cots.

Q: Is there car parking at the property?
A:

Yes, all of our properties now come with a complimentary allocated car parking space. The majority of our spaces are located in our private car park on Beach Road, a short 8-minute stroll from the Sail Lofts complex. Whilst you cannot permanently park your car on the street outside the apartments, you are fine to unload.

Q: Are there instructions and details at the apartment if we have questions after we arrive?
A:

Yes, there is a comprehensive Information File at the property, which you will find on the kitchen table. This should answer any questions you may have. It also contains details of emergency phone numbers.

Q: Do I need a car to get around in St Ives?
A:

No. The Sail Lofts is ideally located within easy walking distance of all the shops, cafes, restaurants and art galleries in St Ives. It is also close to the beaches. If you want to explore further afield in Cornwall, a car is useful, although not essential, as there are good train, bus and coach services to many destinations.

Q: Are you able to smoke in any of the properties?
A:

No, all of our properties are non-smoking.

Q: Do you allow pets in the properties?
A:

We are happy for well-behaved dogs to come to stay in four of our properties (maximum of two dogs per property). We expect that their inoculations will be up-to-date; and insist that they do not go into the bedrooms, or sleep or climb on any of the sofas or other furniture. Whilst there is no extra charge to the cost of the apartment itself, we do add an additional cleaning charge and this varies so it's best to contact one of the team for a tailored quote. Should there be any unexpected damage, we will require payment to rectify this. If you would like to bring a dog with you, please call our office first for further information and to make a booking. We do, of course, welcome assistance dogs. For further information on when dogs are allowed on the various beaches in St Ives we recommend you visit Cornwall Council's website.

Q: What else do you provide?
A:

We have tried to provide everything you will need for your stay at the Sail Lofts. The apartment kitchens are fully equipped, and all have electric hobs and ovens, washer/dryers, microwaves, hair dryers, ironing boards and irons. We also provide a Welcome Pack, which includes local bread, milk, local scones, jam, cleaning products, and tea/coffee/sugar. In each bathroom there will be a range of toiletries. Fish and meat can also be pre ordered through The Office and we have also put together a range of sumptuous hampers from The Cornish Deli. As we all live in and around St Ives we are happy to help with ideas of places to eat out and/or visit, so please ask us if there is anything you are uncertain about, or if you feel there is something extra we could provide. All suggestions will be very welcome.

Q: When is the apartment serviced?
A:

The apartment will be cleaned and serviced prior to your arrival. If you are staying for two weeks you are entitled to a change of linen, towels and a freshen of the apartment during your stay. If you would like an additional clean during your stay this can be arranged for an additional charge and needs to be organised prior to arrival.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A:

Our cancellation policy is detailed in our Terms and Conditions in section 6.

Q: Where are the Sail Lofts car parking spaces?
A:

The car parking spaces are on The Sail Lofts private car park on Beach Road. It is approximately an 8 minute walk from the Sail Lofts complex.

Q: I have not received my confirmation email or Welcome Pack?
A:

The most common reason for emails not being received are aggressive spam and junk filters. To overcome this we always recommend you save the following email address info@thesaillofts.co.uk to your address book. If you are unable to find the email in your junk folder please do contact us and we will forward the email onto you again.
