I grew up in a beautiful part of Yorkshire, but left there to work in London and live in the South East; quite a change. The draw to Cornwall grew when my first child appeared, which may have been due to the long summer holidays spent with cousins and grandparents in Newlyn when I was young; it certainly inspired the thought that my own children could grow up in St Ives .… many, many years later we’re still here, with a large ‘hound’ (who features on the web site), the Beach Boys, two ginger cats who seem to live entirely on Porthmeor, and a very stubborn but beautiful Bay Cob (who lives in a stable, by-the-way); it would seem then we are very settled. I am also part of the family that owns Sail Lofts – St Ives, and working there is a joy. Of course the location helps, but the essence is in the people. My early career was in HR at British Airways and Roche Pharma, where there were some very talented individuals, but in leading the team at Sail Lofts – St Ives I have found a group that are exceptional on many, many levels, and make for a very happy working environment, which in turn, of course, makes for very happy holiday’s. I hope you will also enjoy being part of the Sail Lofts. You are always expected and very welcome amongst us.
Born and Bred in St Ives, Kelly left at 19 to study Business Studies and Marketing at Brighton University. After 5 years in Brighton the lure of St Ives was too much and she returned to her hometown to pursue her career in Cornwall. Initially working with a local publication concentrating on marketing and leveraging brand awareness in the local community, Kelly then moved onwards and upwards and joined a Newquay based firm as a Marketing and Events Manager where she got her teeth stuck into running one of Cornwall’s flagship festivals.
Abi grew up in Kent and Sussex but spent many family holidays in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly which sparked her love for the area. Determined to live the Cornish dream Abi spent a few seasons working on beautiful Scilly where she tried her hand at artisan baking and lobster potting with the local fisherman. After a short sunny spell living in the Canary Islands she finally settled in St Ives with her fiancé and dog – Humphrey the ugly pug! Abi joined The Sail Lofts two years ago as part of the cleaning team but her big smile and bubbly personality soon saw her become an integral part of the office team.
Raised in Cornwall in the small leafy hamlet of Trevia on the North Coast, between the foothills of Roughtor and the dramatic cliff faces of Trebarwith Strand, Katy’s childhood was split between halcyon days on the beach and afternoons rambling across the moorland with her family. Moving further West later in life to pursue a career as a professional artist and art dealer, naturally settled her into St Ives, Cornwall’s creative hub, with her partner Jordan, and fat cat Louis.
We are really pleased to welcome Conor Fletcher to the Sail Lofts – St Ives team as Graduate Marketing Assistant. Raised in Penzance, he has recently completed a Degree in English at Plymouth University. His interests are reading and writing, and we are told he’s a remarkably good cook, we may be putting him to the test one evening soon. If you’re interested in baseball, it’s his favourite sport; and if you support Toronto Blue Jays then you have a firm friend.
