Elizabeth grew up in a beautiful part of Yorkshire, but left to work in London and live in the South East; quite a change. The draw to Cornwall grew when her first child arrived, which may have been due to the long summer holidays spent with cousins and grandparents in Newlyn when she was young. It certainly inspired the thought that her own children could grow up in St Ives.
Many years later Elizabeth and her family are still here, with a large ‘hound’ (who features on the web site), the Beach Boys, (two ginger cats who seem to live entirely on Porthmeor), and a very stubborn but beautiful Bay Cob (who lives in a stables nearby. Elizabeth is part of the family that owns Sail Lofts – St Ives, and working there is a joy. Of course the location helps, but the essence is in the people. Elizabeth’s early career was in HR at British Airways and Roche Pharma, where there were some very talented individuals. But in leading the team at Sail Lofts – St Ives she feels we have found a group that are exceptional on many, levels, which makes for a very happy working environment, which in turn, of course, makes for happy guests and great holidays. We all hope that you will also enjoy being part of the Sail Lofts. You are always very welcome here at Sail Lofts – St Ives.
Born and bred in St Ives, Kelly studied Business Studies and Marketing at Brighton University. After 5 years in Brighton the lure of St Ives was too much and she returned to her home town to pursue her career in Cornwall. Initially working with a local publication concentrating on marketing and brand awareness in the local community, Kelly then moved onwards and upwards and joined a Newquay based firm as a Marketing and Events Manager where she got her teeth stuck into running one of Cornwall’s flagship festivals.
Conor joined the Sail Lofts – St Ives team as a Marketing Assistant earlier in 2017. Raised in Penzance, he completed his degree in English at Plymouth University. His interests are reading and writing, and we are told he’s a remarkably good cook (we may be putting him to the test before too long). If you’re interested in baseball, it’s his favourite sport; and if you support Toronto Blue Jays then you have a firm friend.
Katy joined the Sail Lofts team in 2014 after working for Falmouth University, where she aided in its development strategy in the wake of reaching University status, from its humble beginnings as an art college. Having studied with the Chartered Institute of Marketing whilst working full time as art dealer, exhibiting nationally from Edinburgh, London and Falmouth, she realised Cornwall was home, and set out to forge a career in the South West. Her love for art meant she naturally settled on St Ives. Here at Sail Lofts Katy works on, not only aiding guests in making the most of their time spent away from home, but also planning for the Sail Lofts long term future, from its interiors and maintenance schedules to its busy marketing calendar, with no two days ever being the same.
