October Half Term in St Ives | Luxury Holidays
Having banished the last stubborn grains of sand from our houses, the summer is now firmly behind us and October half term is fast approaching. October is an idyllic time to visit the Cornish coast, boasting more dramatic scenery than the summer months and a perfect climate to get out and explore. You can't be better placed to get your fix of sights, sea and sand than when staying in one of the Sail Lofts' luxury apartments nestled just metres behind Porthmeor beach.
At this time of year, you're less likely to default to the beach everyday but the weather is still on side and it's a great opportunity to get out and explore Cornwall. Perusing local boutiques and whiling away sleepy afternoons in cafes may sound blissful enough, but if you have little ones to entertain it may be advantageous to look further afield. Bringing your own means of transport is completely stress free with our designated parking bays, which provide the luxury to come and go as you wish without the hassle of car parks.
Just a short walk away from the Sail Lofts apartments, you will find the Barnoon Workshop (overlooking the Tate), offering a superb range of workshops from paper making to painting Terry Frost inspired canvasses. Both adults and children are welcome to get their hands dirty! Of course, there is also the aforementioned Tate Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden just a few minutes walk from the Sail Lofts.
The Eden Project makes for a fun and informative day out for everyone - formerly a china clay pit, it is now home to huge Biomes, one of which houses the largest rainforest in captivity. There is also a Mediterranean Biome, a Western Australian garden and Wild Cornwall; an authentic Cornish landscape. From 8th October visitors to Eden will also be lucky enough to be able to go ice-skating as the annual Christmas rink makes its return. There is soft play for under fives, SkyWire - England's longest zip wire and an ethical gift shop boasting responsibly sourced and local produce. The Eden Project is a little over an hour's drive away but well worth the trip.
For another day, or perhaps for a good alternative closer to home, try Heartlands. You will find it just over a 20-minute drive away in Pool. The cultural centre is family friendly, free and set on a 19 acre site. Here you'll find everything from art galleries to an adventure play ground complete with tunnels and a shipwrecked boat. There is a totem circle of twelve poles decorated with hieroglyphics waiting to be deciphered as well as the Diaspora Botanical Gardens, which tell the story of foreign lands visited by Cornish people, the plants they took with them as well the ones that came home with them and soon began to thrive in our rich soil and mild temperature.
Whether you're looking forward to a luxurious retreat or an action packed break, Sail Lofts makes for a perfect bolthole or base for your adventures. Take your pick of twelve luxury apartments, all just a minute's walk away from the town centre. We offer dog friendly accommodation too so none of the family need be left behind. Why not check availability so as not to be disappointed?
