Christmas in St Ives

Hélène Chaussavoine

This year more than any other year, Christmas will be one to celebrate with your closest ones. Here in St Ives, businesses and shops are doing their best to make St Ives a magical place during Christmas time with the lights being switched on earlier and a lovely window competition taking place in the whole town.

Christmas lights switch

St Ives in December is a wonderful time of the year to visit town and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the harbour. This year, St Ives town has decided to switch the lights on early on 28th October to bring the Christmas festivity a little earlier and unfortunately and expectedly, not all events will be taking place this year. Make the most of it with a lovely evening walk along St Ives harbour or through the pebbled streets before returning to your cosy self-catering accommodation for the night.

Christmas window competition

Walking around St Ives is always a wonderful experience however as we are all preparing ourselves for a slightly different celebration this year, shops and business are making sure that the magic will still be there in December. To celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, a window competition is organised in town and different participants will be able to enter the competition to qualify to be the most humorous window, best small window, People's award, best interpretation on theme, which is 12 days of Christmas, and finally Judge's best.

This lovely competition will take place from the last week of November and will be promoted via business's social media.

As we are now all preparing ourselves for Christmas and despite having to organise it differently this year, we are very pleased to see that St Ives town will be able to celebrate in a few different ways. From family evening walks to cosy nights watching movies in your St Ives accommodation, it is now a good time to start planning your festivities.
