Autumnal Adventures on the Cornish Coast

Autumnal weather is fantastic. It offers the chance to step out and explore the coast, or nestle up and enjoy the best of this picturesque Cornish setting.From days out to things to do in town there's so much to enjoy while staying in our luxury holiday cottages in St Ives. 1) Visit the Tate and Barbara Hepworth Garden

If you visit St Ives and don't make the most of our complimentary entry to the Tate and Hepworth Gardens then there's a lot you've missed out on. The gallery offers an insight into the history of Art and St Ives while offering a glimpse into the artists of today. The Hepworth on the other hand is a time capsule a haven in and amongst the cottages of St Ives this garden allows you to enjoy Hepworth's works and soak in some of the history of the town first hand.

2) Find your favourite St Ives spot

Whether it's a quaint cafe, a spot on the beach or even the perfect place to enjoy a picnic overlooking Porthmeor there's so much to be enjoyed when in St Ives and so many places to sit back and enjoy the best of autumnal weather. With the sun still offering warm days in the earlier part of the season you will soon find yourself nestled up with your next big read.

3) Walk the coast

Autumn is superb if you wish to enjoy the finest of the St Ives coast, walk to Zennor and enjoy the most of the Cornish countryside.With the South West Coastal Path winding its way through St Ives you can journey in any direction and find yourself admiring some of the most inspirational landscapes Cornwall can offer you.

4) Enjoy the peacefulness of the beaches

If autumn brings about one thing it's space; the beaches are quieter allowing you and your four legged friend to enjoy the coastline. Long walks across Hayle Towans or a morning stroll on Porthmeor can allow you to experience the best of your time in Cornwall.

5) Drive around Cornwall

6) Enjoy the St Ives Cuisine

With Porthmeor Beach Cafe a moments walk away you can enjoy a meal overlooking Porthmeor or, just a few minutes walk the plethora of venues that the harbour front offers so much variety you'll soon find yourself spoilt for choice.

7) Try the Surf School

A little known fact is that autumn is actually one of the best times of the year to go surfing. With quieter beaches come quieter seas and so too the waves. Porthmeor Beach is fantastic to try out surfing for the first time with the St Ives Surf School at hand for lessons and hire, and with a discount for Sail Lofts guests why not take advantage?

8) Cycle the South West Coastal Path

Hire a bike and wind your way through the back roads of the Cornish countryside. Make your way toward Zennor and loop back around to Penzance before ending your day in St Ives. Lands End Cycle Hire offer bikes for hire throughout your stay, allowing you to venture out along the coast and take in some of the inspirational sights Cornwall offers.

9) Explore the gardens of Cornwall

Once you've experienced the Hepworth Gardens you'll soon find there's so much more out there. With reserved parking throughout your stay you can indulge in one of Cornwall's best features - its gardens. From Tremenheere to the Lost Gardens of Heligan there are so many National Trust gardens or privately owned venues for you to enjoy whilst you're here.
