St Ives in June

Charlotte Ballam

With the chilly winter months long gone and the first fresh, bright days of spring finally stretching out into golden balmy days – June in St Ives is such a treat. Boasting all of the offerings of the summer but with crowds yet to descend, there’s no time like the early summer months to enjoy the natural splendour of Cornwall. The Sail Lofts luxury holiday cottages in St Ives provide the perfect place to explore everything that the area has to offer at a time of year that lends itself to getting out of doors.

Walk the coast paths

There’s nothing like getting off the beaten track for discovering paths less trodden and some secret treasures of your own. The coast paths are a great way to see Cornwall as you’d never see it from the car and boast some seriously awe-inspiring vistas as well as wild flowers, wild life and some excellent pubs to make it all worth your while! One of our favourite coastal paths (St Ives to Zennor, around 6 miles) lies just a few minutes away from our holiday cottages in St Ives and not only can you start with breakfast in Porthmeor Café, but end your journey in the Tinner’s Arms while you wait for a bus home.

Explore Cornwall’s beautiful gardens

With Cornwall’s unique micro climate, there are spectacular gardens all over our county featuring some plants and flowers that you may not expect to find on the ragged English coast. The Iconic Barbara Hepworth Museum is just a hop, skip and a jump from your holiday cottage in St Ives and, along with Penzance based Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, offers the opportunity to wander through exotic riots of colour and sub-tropical plants contrasted against now internationally renowned sculptures situated throughout. Elsewhere, the unmissable Lost Gardens of Heligan are able to harvest pineapples originally acquired from the Caribbean – truly incredible! Find out more about Cornwall’s amazing gardens here.
