New Year's Eve in St Ives is a night like no other. With everyone, and we mean everyone, donning their costume of choice and taking to the streets, it's a town-wide party and not hard to see why we're commonly listed as one of the best places to ring in the New Year. Whether you've been perfecting the perfect group theme for months or planning to hit the charity shops for a last minute look, you won't regret making the effort, in fact we promise you'll feel more conspicuous if you dont.

Where to go...

Due to the popularity of New Year's Eve in St Ives, restaurants will be extremely busy and therefore a reservation is essential. If you're not planning on dining 0ut, why not dodge the crowds and enjoy a feast in your holiday cottage in St Ives before heading out? Once you've done the rounds or indeed while you're on your way around town there will be no shortage of places to stop in for a drink to warm up. If you have young family members with you, the Queens Hotel on the High Street, the Lifeboat Inn or the Searoom which are both located on the Wharf are all brilliant lively, family friendly spots. Later on make a beeline for the Hub, Balcony and Rum and Crab Shack - all of which boast birds eye views of the passing crowds.

Fireworks at midnight

As everyone gathers on the Wharf just before midnight for the big countdown even venues with the best views of the harbour will empty out onto the street to see the New Year in together with a shower of fireworks. Whether it's time to hit the hay or head back in to continue the celebrations, when it comes to home time there are no taxi ranks or hills to contend with as your holiday cottage is waiting for you mere moments away.

New Year's Day

If you're feeling up to it why not embrace the first day of 2020, head out for a bracing walk and treat yourself to some much needed coffee and a delicious breakfast. For fantastic menus and even better views we highly recommend Porthminster, Porthmeor and Porthgwidden's beach cafes, all of which are just a few minutes walk from your holiday cottage in St Ives.
