Dog friendly St Ives stays

Rachel Adams

What’s better than spending your family holiday in St Ives with your four-legged friend in tow, especially going into the late summer and autumnal months. Here at Sail Lofts, we have the perfect luxury accommodation to enable your doggy to enjoy a relaxing holiday in St Ives. We have four specially selected dog- friendly properties to choose from; Island, Curno, Harbour and Zennor. These have been selected because they have easier access and are moments from a selection of beaches and the green open-space of The Island.

Dog restrictions are lifting …

From the end of August, the dog restrictions are easing in St Ives with the dog ban being fully lifted on Porthgwidden beach and the and the Harbour from 31st August.

Porthgwidden Beach, a short stroll from your doorstep, overlooks the west coast towards Hayle and Gwithian making walkies on the beach a real treat with your furry friend. Being slightly more secluded than some of the other beaches it means it can often be quite peaceful with a gentler tide, so if your dog is a water baby like mine, they will adore taking a dip.

Restrictions are also eased on the Harbour at the end of August. Offering the best spot to catch the sunrise in St Ives, there is no better place for a morning coffee and stroll with your pooch in tow. Throughout September many of the Harbour front cafes and takeaways will be open early so why not round-off your morning walk with a harbourside breakfast – there’s something quite special about early mornings on the Harbour and we highly recommend it if you’re an early bird.

The fun doesn’t stop at the beach for your four-legged friend either, there are plenty of other options for dogs to enjoy whilst holidaying in St Ives. Why not take a walk along the glorious 2-mile stretch of coast path towards Carbis Bay or even further along the coast towards Lelant. Soak up the stunning coastal views and scenery while your dog has fun too! Or, if you and your pooch fancy a more challenging walk you could brave the 6-mile hike along the coast to Zennor. Once there, stop off at The Tinners Ars for a light lunch and refreshment stop.

Scoff Troff Café

Whether it’s a delicious breakfast after a morning stroll or a light lunch, Scoff Troff Café is the perfect place for a quick pit-stop with your dog. The café is open every day from 9 am and closes at 4 pm (5pm on a Saturday). Oh and did we mention the cakes here are rather lovely too!

Porthminster Beach Café

The award-wining Porthminster Beach Café offers a more refined dining experience with a menu that specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine. Perched on the edge of the sand at Porthminster Beach the views from this restaurant are some of the best in St Ives and with their fully-covered terrace, dogs are also welcome in this area all year round.

Porthmeor Beach Café

Like Porthminster Beach Café, dogs are also allowed on the terrace area at the Porthmeor Beach Café. Being just a short stroll from our luxury self-catering accommodation in St Ives, Porthmeor Café is a firm favourite offering up delicious breakfast alongside a predominantly tapas-based menu. Vegans and vegetarians are also well catered for at Porthmeor Café.
