September is a perfect time of year to take a break in one of our luxury self catering cottages in St Ives. Although the summer holidays will be coming to an end, St Ives will still very much be in the summer spirit. With plenty of activities planned with the St Ives September Festival taking place in the town for two weeks during September. If you are looking to spend a day outside of St Ives and explore Cornwall further afield, then we have some suggestions from the list of events happening this September. Whether sport is your thing, or music or books, there is something for everyone.

 

Swim Festival

Just around the corner from St Ives, on the 18th September Carbis Bay will be running a Swim Festival for all. With open water swimming races for both junior’s and adults, with varying distances too. Whether participating or spectating, it's certain to be a fun day for all.

 

The Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival

Take a trip out of St Ives for a bit of music and cider at Healey’s Cider Farm who will be hosting it’s festival from 9th-11th September. With 90’s favourites Feeder as one of the headline acts, there is sure to be plenty to keep young and old entertained over the weekend.

 

Redruth International Mining & Pasty Festival 

Why not celebrate all things Cornwall, by joining UNESCO World Heritage Site in Redurth on the 10th September. The day will involve ‘The Redruth Pasty’, a giant pasty which will be made at the Miner’s statue in Fore street, ready for an afternoon feast. Activities will be accompanied by music and good company.

 

Looe Live!

During the 16th-18th September, the pretty fishing village of Looe will be hosting a weekend of music, comedy, food and workshops. With five stages, 100 pop up performances and a community zone, there’s lots of entertainment for you to enjoy.

 

Lands End 100, Cycling Event

Do you love cycling and the Cornish coast?  You’re in luck, The Lands end 100 on September 17th offers a cycling event accompanied by breath-taking views. Cycling along the South Coast Peninsular offers a stunning journey. If you cycle as a hobby, professionally or you are just a fan and love to watch the sport then attending the Lands End 100 is not to be missed.

 

Watergate Sprint

If you are a fan of motorsports, take a day trip up to North Cornwall where the Watergate Sprint will be taking place on the 17th & 18th September. The Watergate Sprint is a 2-day closed road speed event, that will offer motorsport competitors and spectators a fast and furious weekend.

 

The Cornish Gin & Drinks Festival

If gin’s your tipple of choice, The Alverton Hall in Truro on the 17th September may be the place for you. The day will consist of gin tasting, masterclasses, demos and live entertainment.

 

North Cornwall Book Festival

This September join fellow book lovers in North Cornwall on the 22nd-25th September for a few days of talks, interviews and workshops with both local, national and international authors. Taking place in the beautiful surroundings of St Endellion, there will be delicious food, drink and a festival market to enjoy too.
