With summer fast approaching and pre-booking once again essential if you decide to skip the beach and head out for the day, we have rounded up a few of our favourite family days out to keep young and old entertained on those most treasured family days out.

From adrenaline fuelled roller coasters to animal encounters and wonderful gardens, there is so much fun to discover when you stay in one of our self catering apartments in St Ives. Making life even easier is your allocated parking space meaning you can come and go as you please.

 

Flambards

Located in Helston, Flambards is around a 30-minute drive from St Ives. Badged as ‘the best day of the week’, this fun-filled family theme park features amazing rides, a family fun area, perfect for little adventure seekers and immersive indoor attractions. For the historians among you, make sure to check out the Victorian Village and Britain in the Blitz, which features a Concorde replica.

Newquay Zoo

A wonderful day out for the little ones, Newquay Zoo features over 1,000 of the world’s rarest and most endangered animals. Get up close to the lions in the glass fronted viewing area and watch these skillful hunters at work at feeding time. Marvel as the penguins duck and dive in their pool before letting the children run wild in one of the designated play areas.

Guys Butterfly House

A hidden gem on the outskirts of Penzance this privately owned butterfly house is a must for anyone with a love for these beautiful creatures. With over 200 exotic butterfly species to watch and admire, Guys Butterfly House showcases butterflies of all different shapes, sizes and colours from the strikingly bold ‘Morpho’ with its bright blue wings to the giant ‘Owl’ butterfly.

Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens

Combining acres of sub-tropical gardens with incredible artwork and installations, Tremenheere Scultpure Gardens offers plenty of space for little legs to roam free whilst providing just the right dose of culture for those looking for a little something extra from their outdoor pursuit. Located in a sheltered valley overlooking Mounts Bay, the views are also quite exquisite and the on-site kitchen restaurant is well worth a stop, serving breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake daily.
