Dog Friendly Accommodation in St Ives

Helena Clark-Davies

Sail Lofts – St Ives offers the chance for your four-legged friend to enjoy your luxury Cornwall accommodation with you. Our dog friendly accomodation is beautifully appointed, and finished to Sail Lofts usual high standards. All properties are a stone’s throw from the stunning Porthmeor Beach, a favourite spot for locals and their dogs. The St Ives Dog Ban is lifted on 1st October, meaning that beach access for dogs is once again unrestricted throughout the autumn and winter months. Make the most of this period by heading to Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches.

Dog friendly beaches in and around St Ives

Porthmeor

Overlooked by the Tate Gallery and just metres from your luxury St Ives apartment, Porthmeor is the biggest and arguably the most beautiful of the St Ives beaches. One of Cornwall’s eight blue flag beaches, Porthmeor also boasts a surf school, two beach cafes and the incredible Porthmeor Cafe - serving tapas and cocktails with unrivalled views. Porthmeor is beautiful in the late autumn sun but is breath taking on a stormy day. As hounds seem to enjoy walks in any weather it is worth getting soaked to marvel at the dramatic seascape before returning to your five star apartment to warm up with a hot chocolate!

Porthminster

On the other side of St Ives and just a short walk through the town stands Porthminster Beach. Like Porthmeor it has both a restaurant and a beach café, where you and your four legged friend can enjoy a coffee or a cream tea whilst looking out to the spectacular views of Godrevy lighthouse and looking back toward St Ives harbour. If you fancy a more challenging walk, continue up the steep hill to Carbis Bay.

Gwithian

If you have a car and are willing to venture a little further afield head out to Gwithian, just under 10miles away on the opposite side of St Ives Bay. Gwithian offers three miles of golden sand as well as endless sand dunes for you and your dog to explore. Sunset Surf is a dog friendly café located just above Gwithian car park offering an array of delicious food for humans as well as treats for hounds. My recommendation is their special hot chocolate – well worth the trip!

Perranporth

Perranporth is further up the North Coast near the Cornish capital, Truro. The beach is very popular with dog walkers for its expanse of golden sand and for its coastal footpath. Perranporth is also home to The Watering Hole, the UK's only bar on the beach, which is located in the middle of the sand! Sit outside with a Cornish beer and make the most of the warmth of the Cornish autumn.
