Spring getaways in St Ives…

Larissa Ellis-Jones

Lighter mornings, calmer weather, brighter days and longer evenings; Spring is on the horizon and what better place to come and explore the best of the British season than in Cornwall’s very own St Ives.

St Ives is a colourful and creative place, so when springtime comes along, all the vibrancy and glow of the lighter season comes out in full swing in the form of craft markets and annual festivals.

For couples it’s a great time of year to explore the very best of the Cornish lifestyle and seasonal events without overcrowding, plus, staying with Sail Lofts, you can make the most of our free parking and central location.

St Pirans day

St Piran is the patron saint of Cornwall and on March 5th each year, Cornwall celebrates the saint with a whole host of activities, parades and events to truly showcase Cornish heritage and culture. St Ives itself being a renowned fishing harbour and situated in close proximity to the mining coastline, offers lots of celebrations to try; including plenty of fresh Cornish pasties and treats for travelling guests to indulge in and get a true taste of Cornwall for themselves.

Staying in our Surf property, you’ve got excellent central access to St Ives to make the most all of the activities and goings on. You can fully relax and try out everything there is to offer. After a full day of celebrations, you can retreat to the comfort of your own private home-from-home.

St Ives Kite Festival

On March 25th St Ives hosts a kite festival on top of The Island. Starting in 1991 this festival is a bit of creative fun mixed in with embracing the fresh sea breeze and spring time elements. Hosts of the event invite participants to come along and admire the display or build and test out their own flying creations.

Staying in our Lighthouse property, you have a perfect viewing platform, with views out to The Island from the cosy second floor living area. After having a cup of something warm and admiring the flying creations from your apartment; you could try building one for yourself and testing it out amongst the others. Then after you’ve exercised your flying muscles, take a nice relaxing stroll along the coast to take in the Cornish coastline.

St Ives Artisan Market

Starting April 4th, St Ives Artisan Market will be in full swing. Over twenty local craftspeople will be showcasing their homemade and handcrafted goods for you to peruse and purchase a unique one-of-a-kind item for yourselves. This free event runs all through the spring season and into summer taking place at St Ives Guildhall and is welcome to all, including dogs.

Driftwood, another of our one-bedroom apartment options, is perfect for access to the beaches and markets. After exploring and purchasing some handcrafted goods from the Artisan Market, and stocking up on some fresh local groceries, you can come back to a cosy relaxing apartment ready for you to admire your new goods and cook up a tasty meal for two.
