February half-term escapes

Kelly Weaver

As February half term approaches, it's time to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of St Ives. Our charming seaside town, known for its sandy beaches, narrow winding streets, and vibrant arts scene, offers the perfect retreat for families and individuals seeking a rejuvenating getaway. Furthermore, during February half term, you can take advantage of some of our best ever rates for our luxury accommodation in St Ives. If you need some inspiration on what to do this February half-term, here are a few of our favourites:

Coastal Walks

Embrace the invigorating sea air and breath-taking coastal views with a stroll along the South West Coast Path. February may bring brisk weather, but bundling up and exploring the rugged cliffs and sandy shores is an excellent way to connect with nature. The town is surrounded by stunning landscapes, and the coastal walks provide a perfect opportunity to witness the dramatic beauty of the Cornish coastline. My family and I recently headed over to Botallack and walked the coastal path to Levant Mine. As well as offering some of the most beautiful coastal views, the mining landscape offered another vista which allowed us to delve into Cornwall's mining heriatge with the children

Tate St Ives

For art enthusiasts, a visit to Tate St Ives is a must. The iconic gallery showcases contemporary and modern art inspired by the local surroundings. With changing exhibitions and a diverse collection, it's a cultural hub that adds a touch of sophistication to your half-term break.

As a Sail Lofts guest you will benefit from complimentary entry into Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, simply pop by the office during your visit and our friendly team can assist in booking your tickets.

Porthmeor Beach

Even in February, the charm of Porthmeor Beach is undeniable. Take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline, collect seashells, or simply sit and admire the serene beauty of the ocean. St Ives Surf School will be offering group lessons throughout February half-term as well, so you can still hit the waves and hone a new skill if you so wish.

Fancy a bite to eat overlooking the sea? We highly recommend Porthmeor Beach Café who are open for breakfast and lunch Wednesday – Sunday. If the weather is mild, reserve a heated pod for the ultimate outdoor dining experience.

Workshops and Events

St Ives boasts a thriving artistic community, and many galleries and studios offer workshops during the half-term break. Whether you're interested in painting, pottery, or chocolate making workshops, engaging in a creative activity can be a fun and enriching way to spend your time.

Local Cuisine:

Indulge in the delectable local cuisine that St Ives has to offer. From fresh seafood to Cornish pasties, the town's restaurants and cafes provide a culinary experience that complements the coastal ambiance.

St Ives in February half term availability, is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. With a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural experiences, and coastal charm, it offers an idyllic setting for a memorable family holiday. Whether you're seeking relaxation, adventure, or a bit of both, St Ives has something to offer everyone.
