The Best Takeaways in St Ives

Charlotte Ballam

As the nights start to draw in, an evening in with a takeaway starts to look far more appetising than when there are tapas and cocktails to be enjoyed alfresco as the sun sets. At the end of a long day of exploring why not treat yourself to a cosy night in with some delicious food in the comfort of your holiday cottage in St Ives? Here are our go-to takeaways when neither going out, cooking or washing up are on the agenda!

Blas Burgerworks

'Burgers for People Who Give a Damn!' With a strong focus on local ingredients and being as environmentally friendly as possible from the business' inception, Blas burgers are as wholesome as it gets. From classic beef burgers to cheese and bacon or chicken and truffle to halloumi stacks and black bean patties accompanied by tofu mayo, there is a Blas burger for everyone. Nestled on the Warren, Blas is around a 10-minute walk from your holiday cottage in St Ives.

Talay Thai Kitchen

Based just a 5-minute walk away from your holiday cottage in St Ives, Talay is a firm favourite here in the office and just the ticket to warm you up on a chilly Autumn evening. Whether you opt for some small plates to share, Pad Thai all around or are feeling more adventurous with some Chu Chi Hake or a Jungle Curry, we're confident it'll end up in your rotation too.

St Ives Pizza Co.

Operating from their HQ at the top of St Ives, this Pizza Co. boasts a menu of all the fan favourites with the addition of some innovative combinations such as aromatic lamb, mint and yoghurt or chicken tikka and onion bhaji. Not forgetting their 'Green Door' pizza which features Cajun pulled jackfruit and vegan mozzarella. You can stay home and cosy while your pizzas (and a great selection of sides) are delivered right to the door and did I mention you can order beer, wine and Prosecco too?

The Rajpoot

Recently voted by Cobra Beer as the best Indian restaurant in Cornwall, the Rajpoot is St Ives' original Indian restaurant having been established in 1994! Enjoy innovative home style Indian cuisine prepared with the freshest, most authentic ingredients for a truly delicious experience. Orders can be placed for collection or delivery with collection usually being the faster of the two. The restaurant is located in Royal Square next to the Kettle 'n' Wink and Western Hotel.

The Mex

The only place in St Ives where you can feast on Burritos and Fajitas galore along with ribs, nachos, Quesadilla and much, much more. Mains are accompanied with generous portions of rice, wedges or sweet potato fries and there are plenty of delicious starters and sides to choose from. The Mex is takeaway only and is situated on Gabriel Street in Royal Square, at maximum a 15-minute walk from your holiday cottage in St Ives.

Peppers

Open every evening throughout the year, Peppers is a long standing favourite with locals and visitors alike - serving traditional Italian pasta dishes, fresh dough pizzas, steaks, poultry and a varied selection of fresh local fish and seafood dishes. Based just off Fore Street, there are mere minutes between you and some good old fashioned comfort food done right.

The Balancing Eel

When in St Ives, the chances are that Fish 'n' Chips are most often enjoyed off of your lap, overlooking the sea with a close eye on the gulls, but if the Autumn weather doesn't permit alfresco dining it's only right that you should still get your fix. Situated at the entrance to the Sloop carpark, the Balancing Eel is so close that you might just be able to resist the tang of vinegar until you get back to your St Ives holiday cottage. If you happen to be coming from out of town and fancy grabbing your food en route, we also love John Becks (on the main road just as you enter Carbis Bay from Lelant. See our Fish 'n' Chip blog for more recommendations!

Hong Kong Kitchen

For me, Chinese food is fairly synonymous with a takeaway and Hong Kong Kitchen quite literally delivers every time. With a huge and varied menu, you're sure to find your go-to dishes along with some new favourites and the vegetarian options are excellent too. Situated on Chapel Street, it's an easy 10 minute walk from your holiday cottage in St Ives, however if occasion calls they also offer a delivery service.

Beer & Bird

An independent, family run business with a passion for three simple things: Craft Beer, Fried Chicken and Great Service! The Beer & Bird do indeed serve delicious, free range chicken any which way you could want it, but don't be misled by the name, they also have some wonderful vegan and vegetarian options including their very own-recipe vegan fried chicken. Midway along Fore Street, the Beer & Bird is just a few minutes away from your holiday cottage in St Ives.
