Rediscover St Ives with Sail Lofts five star accommodation

With the New Year upon us, our thoughts turn to the year ahead and the excitement that lies in wait. Here at Sail Lofts we know that having the perfect holiday to look forward to is one of the most uplifting ways to start the year. Combining five star accommodation with complimentary parking and an onsite concierge service, a Sail Lofts experience offers more than the usual self-catering holiday. So, whether you choose to visit St Ives during the spring, summer, autumn or winter you can be sure that our friendly team will do their upmost to ensure your holiday is the very best it can be. The following is a guide to some notable events in 2019.

St Ives Food & Drink Festival

This year's festival takes place over the 11th and 12th May on Porthminster Beach. 2019 is set to be the biggest festival yet with over sixty stands showcasing the best in local produce, including wine, cider, beer, chocolate, cheese, meat, chutneys and bread. Whilst revellers can enjoy delicious and freshly cooked food on the beach, it's the demonstrations that never fail to draw a crowd. From nationally renowned celebrity chefs to our own local gems, watch as the chefs demonstrate their dish of choice before your eyes on the beach. There are also water sports to be enjoyed, plenty of activities for children and to round off the day's festivities, an evening music session on Saturday night. Porthminster beach is a scenic and leisurely stroll through town from Sail Lofts five star accommodation.

Cinema on the beach

Not many people can claim to have watched a film on a gigantic inflatable screen...on the beach. Reserved for the summer months for obvious reasons, Porthmeor's Cinema On The Beach is not to be missed. Also, as it lies on Sail Lofts' doorstep, it would be rude not to! Take a deck chair, beanbag, towel - anything you can carry and settle in to watch a movie just after dusk. Porthmeor Cafe's takeaway will be serving Tacos and beer along with the more traditional popcorn, ice cream and soft drinks. A space in the 'cinema' costs £5 with the start time hinging on the sunset. Previous showings include, La La Land, The Greatest Showman, Paddington and more.

The September Festival

Hot on the heels of the summer holiday, September is synonymous with quieter beaches and less hustle and bustle on the streets. But don't be fooled, behind its sleepy facade, September is alive and kicking. The September Festival is an annual celebration of music, literature and the arts: last year's programme boasted over 200 events and after 30 years of the festival going strong, it shows no signs of slowing down yet. Popular haunts include the Lifeboat Inn, The Western Hotel/Kettle 'n' Wink, Queens Hotel and The Golden Lion. Expect a myriad of folk, acoustic and roots acts in these venues along with open studios and free exhibitions throughout St Ives. If you're in St Ives for the festival, pick up a programme so you don’t miss out! At Sail Lofts you’re just a few minutes away from the town centre whilst having a tranquil bolthole if required.

New Year’s Eve

Voted the 3rd best place to spend New Years Eve, St Ives is famous for its fancy dress and fireworks. Piping Manchester to the post for the spot, St Ives joins Edinburgh and London in the top 3. Our little town is without a doubt, one of the most memorable and atmospheric places to spend New Years Eve. Expect streets full of people in fancy dress before gathering on the Wharf for the countdown to fireworks at midnight. It's one big party! Despite it being a way off, Sail Lofts’ five star accommodation fills up quickly during this time of year. We recommend as much forward planning as possible if you wish to visit over the New Year period.

With so much to enjoy in St Ives this year there's no reason not to escape to Cornwall for and enjoy our luxury five star accommodation. Why not get in touch with the team and find out when you can be here?
