August Activities

With the summer holidays in full swing there are plenty of activities for all to enjoy in St Ives. Whether its spending your days on the beach, taking a tour around the Tate St Ives, or wandering through the quaint streets of St Ives.

Beach days and catching the waves

Located on the stunning north coast, we are lucky enough to have plenty of beautiful beaches in St Ives so beach days are a must!

Porthmeor Beach, with its long stretch of golden soft sands and crystal clear waters is our closest with access just a few steps away from your luxury apartment in St Ives.

Porthmeor is also popular with surfers due to the excellent swell, so if surfing is something you're keen to try I'd definitely recommend catching the waves on Porthmeor, feel free to bring your surfing equipment with you and store them in our onsite wet room. Alternatively, if you surfing is a skill you would like to learn or improve on, St Ives Surf School offer lessons for all levels.

Porthgwidden, located beneath the Island, and again just a short stroll from your accomodation is another of St Ives' favourite beaches. Although smaller than Porthmeor it is by no means less stunning and the sea is generally calmer here providing a tranquil environment for little ones to swim and splash around in.

Best Places for Breakfast

With dinner reservations in fairly short supply, especially if you’ve booked a last-minute holiday, why not flip things on their head and dine out in the mornings instead of the evenings? You’ll enjoy the best of the views with fewer crowds as mornings tend to be calmer. Here are a few of favourite breakfast spots in and around St Ives…

Porthmeor Beach Café is a lovely café which overlooks the golden sands of Porthmeor beach. It is a great place to sit and enjoy a delicious breakfast – with a wide range of options to choose from. The café is popular so I would suggest booking so there is no risk of missing out. The terrace is dog friendly too, so if you are staying in one of our dog friendly apartments in St Ives– Porthmeor Beach Café is a great choice.

Scoff Troff Café is another favourite of ours offering a variety of breakfast options for all to enjoy. They do not take reservations in the day however the breakfast/ brunch menu is served all day, so no issues if you plan on a late breakfast after a well deserved lie-in.

The Old Forge, Lelant is a beautiful place to enjoy a delicious home-cooked breakfast with some unique dishes served alongside the more traditional breakfast choices. They have plenty of options to choose from including Hash & Eggs, Smoothie bowls and a rather delicious sounding Breakfast Bruschetta. They also do bottomless brunch on Sundays with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options (bookings are required for this.)

Although not located in St Ives itself, you could start your day here before venturing further afield to explore. The Old Forge is only a 10-minute drive from St Ives, or you could take the scenic route and get the train on the St Ives Branch line to Lelant and then walk the few minutes to The Old Forge. It is also possible to walk the coastal path to Lelant, however this would take between an hour and an hour and a half. As The Old Forge is very popular, booking is advisable and you can book online via their website.

Whether you fancy a relaxed week in St Ives or exploring the sights of Cornwall, with St Ives as your base, we have the perfect luxury accommodation for the whole family and don’t forget you can save up to 25% on last minute bookings this August.

We hope to welcome you to Sail Lofts soon.
