St Ives School of Painting

Perched right on Porthmeor Beach with awe inspiring views of the sea, the School of Painting has been running art classes out of the iconic Porthmeor Studios for 80 years. Their class sizes are limited and are run by experienced, practising artists who are able to tailor their approach to teach all abilities, from those with some experience already to total novices.

Art Courses

If you're all for jumping in feet first, art courses run from two to five days with the majority of them being suitable for all abilities; whether you're looking to paint the rooftops of St Ives, get started with watercolours, paint flowers in oils or expolore botanical forms. Designed to ensure that everyone receives the attention they require to be able to develop their skills, they are comprised of small groups and there is ample opportunity for 1-to-1 attention. Workshops and Classes

If you don’t have days to devote to one course or would prefer to try your hand at a few techniques, why not attend some workshops? From line and wash to oils and collage, workshops are suitable for both beginners and those with more experience and are the perfect way to dabble if you’re not sure about committing to a more in depth course. All materials will be provided for you, and while spaces may be available on the day, it’s always best to book.
