2023 Holidays in St Ives, Cornwall

Charlotte Ballam

Dreaming of white sand, warm summer air and balmy evenings overlooking the sea? Secure your 2022 holiday in St Ives and make your daydreams a reality. 2023 may feel a long way off but in light of recent events more of us than ever are keen to get our plans locked in with the hope that normality is slowly starting to ebb back into our lives.  We've had plenty of time to ponder our favourite activities over the past year and here's what we've been missing and looking forward to the most for 2023!

Starting the year as we mean to go on

St Ives is famed for its New Year's Eve celebrations and although it's impossible to say what New Year's Eve will look like this year, even if we're not gathering en-masse, we'll be happy to ring in 2022 with some of our nearest and dearest in one of St Ives' many amazing restaurants. The return of fancy dress will be a bonus!

Winter wave watching from cosy cafes

We may have been for more walks than ever over the course of the last year, however we've been seriously missing the obligatory pit-stop for coffee and cake (that is the dangling carrot is it not?). Booking a 2023 holiday in St Ives during the off-season provides many an opportunity to explore both Cornwall's astonishing natural beauty and its many superb cafes and restaurants, without the hustle and bustle that inevitably comes with the holidays.

Gardens in Cornwall in springtime

As well as its famed sea and sand, Cornwall is also home to an unexpectedly exotic array of flowers, succulents and sub-tropical plants thanks to our unique, Mediterranean-esque micro climate and there's no better time to experience the splendor of our gardens than a spring holiday in St Ives. Steeped in history, the Lost Gardens of Heligan are a favourite of ours and are as intriguing as they are impressive - growing a pineapple in the UK is no mean feat! Right on doorstep of your holiday cottage in St Ives, the iconic Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden is an absolute must, as is the Tremenheere Sculpture Garden just a short drive away in Penzance.

Alfresco wining and dining

When the weather is on our side, Summer holidays in St Ives are truly what dreams are made of. After a day already spent on the beach, there is simply nothing like settling in for an evening of cocktails, good food and wine whilst you watch the sun sink into the water and there is nowhere in St Ives to rival Porthmeor Beach Cafe on this front, we recommend booking as soon as you know you're coming to St Ives - it really does get that busy. Porthgwidden and Porthminster also boast wonderful restaurants and if we could spend a week dining among just these three we would have no complaints. For a morning well spent why not head over to Porthminster Cafe for breakfast before taking in the spectacular views from the coastal path to Carbis Bay?

Late summer sunshine in September and October

A holiday in St Ives during September and even October often boasts glorious sunny days and a far more relaxed atmosphere throughout the county. The evenings, starting to draw in, are perfect for catching those coveted St Ives sunsets and it's far, far easier to make reservations. You also have the bonus of the annual September Festival which spans two weeks and sees St Ives' pubs and bars play host to a plethora of artists and bands while various performers take to the streets. Having missed out on 2020's festival for obvious reasons, we expect the September Festival will be especially popular as we all make up for lost time.
