Dog Friendly Stays in St Ives

Charlotte Ballam

What better way to start the day than stepping out of your dog friendly holiday cottage in St Ives to the morning sun, the sound of gulls crying and the waves crashing onto the beach just metres away?

Perfectly placed in the heart of St Ives, Sail Lofts' dog friendly holiday cottages are just moments from the town centre and a stone's throw from Porthmeor beach, offering the perfect playground for your four legged friends to run off some steam before heading off to explore all that Cornwall has to offer. Here are some of our favourite things for the whole family to do.

Breakfast on the Beach

With a plethora of beach cafes all overlooking glorious stretches of golden sand, a quick slice of toast should be the last thing on your mind. Whilst Porthmeor, Porthgwidden and Porthminster all boast their own wonderful Cafes, it's Porthmeor that has our hearts. From their dog friendly (heated and covered when necessary) terrace you can enjoy freshly ground coffee and a vast breakfast menu alfresco whilst overlooking the sea. The best part? You can get there and back via the beach as it's just minutes from your dog friendly holiday cottage in St Ives.

Coastal Walks

Setting out via a coastal path is a great way to get off the beaten track and away from the crowds, with so many routes all over the county you're sure to find a route to suit your time frame and abilities. For a short walk we suggest picking up the path from Porthminster and meandering towards Carbis Bay, you'll experience stunning views of the bay along the 1.2 mile walk and if you don't fancy the return trip you can hop on the train in Carbis Bay for an equally scenic journey back to where you started. At 7.5 miles, St Ives to Zennor is a more challenging yet unforgettable walk along rugged coastlines of yellow heather and turquoise waters. The Tinner's Arms awaits at your destination!st ives bay

Boat Trip to Seal Island

Embarking from the harbour, just a minute's walk from your holiday cottage in St Ives, the trusty Dolly P will make her way around The Island and Porthmeor Beach, following the cliffs and coves to Seal Island - home to a colony of grey seals. Along your way be sure to keep an eye out for the local wildlife as dolphin sightings have become more and more common as well as an array of sea birds, sharks and even whales! This one hour trip is fantastic for the whole family and dogs, of course, go free.
