Based in Mousehole just past Penzance, this old yet spacious hotel boasts seriously beautiful seaviews at the end of it's glorious garden that sweeps doen to the harbour wall. It's the perfect place to warm up having wandered through Mousehole to take in the village's iconic Christmas lights. With huge comfy sofas overlooking the bay, large banqueting style tables for mass gatherings and a menu full of beautifully cooked local produce, The Old Coastguard is our go-to that side of Penzance. At around a half an hour drive from your luxury cottage in St Ives, we can whole heartedly recommend it.

7) Talay Thai Kitchen

Elevated above the harbour front, serving authentic Thai food, Talay is definitely worth (at least) a visit during your Christmas holiday in St Ives. From traditional Thai noodles to duck curry, dumplings and beef sirloin, there's a large and varied menu with plenty of choices for everyone. At a time of year when the town can get very busy, their non-reservation system is just the ticket - simply pop in and leave your details and they'll give you a call when a table is ready for you. A gratifyingly traditional pub set in the heart of St Ives, the Queens features a real fire and takes its Christmas decorations seriously! Here you will most certainly find plenty of mulled cider along with a traditional pub menu and most likely some live music over the festive period.
