With each season bringing something different to the table, St Ives is always special no matter what the time of year but there is definitely an extra element of magic in the air during the run up to Christmas. With the summer long gone and the crowds with it, there's no better time to enjoy of St Ives without the hustle and bustle. A Christmas getaway means you're able to enjoy all of the perks of St Ives in the winter with added festive atmosphere to get you all warmed up for Christmas. Sail Lofts 5 star accommodation in St Ives provides a relaxing sanctuary just a stone's throw from the beach, as well as being just couple of minutes' walk away from the main shopping streets, cafes and restaurants.

As we draw closer to the big day, towns and cities everywhere will see their share of festivities, but on Friday 7th December St Ives will host a notably unique event. After a long journey from the North Pole, Santa Claus will arrive into St Ives Harbour on the evening high tide with a little help from his friends on the Lifeboat. After alighting and a greeting from the Mayor, Santa will take a sleigh ride around the harbour to say hello. This is a fantastic time to visit St Ives in order to witness an event that young spectators will hold in their hearts for years to come. Sail Lofts 5 star accommodation is conveniently situated out of the town centre whilst being in close proximity to everything so after a magical and exhilarating evening, any tired little ones will be home and tucked up in no time.

After a refreshing night's sleep in your luxury apartment, you can be sure of another action packed day ahead as Father Christmas will be in his Ice Palace Grotto at the Salvation Army Centre (on the Harbour front near the RNLI), accompanied by his elves. Sail Lofts are proud to be sponsoring this year's grotto and we hope you enjoy the Christmas trees, snowflakes and sparkles. To keep the little one's busy there’ll also be face painting and juggling while they wait - even the St Ives Mermaid will be joining the fun!

On your way through St Ives you may notice that many of the shops have gone all out with their window displays - and they're not just decked out for Christmas - during December, some 60 shops and galleries are all vying for the coveted annual awards for best Window Display. This year's suggested theme is The Snow Queen, in keeping with Kidz R Us pantomime. Be sure to have your say and support your favourite, you can do so in a number of ways. There will be voting boxes in both local Post Offices where you can cast your vote or you can vote via Instagram by taking a photo of the window you want to vote for and hashtagging it #SIDwindow2018, also include the shop name.  The closing date for votes is 12.30pm on Saturday 29 December 2018, get involved!
