St Ives in October

Charlotte Ballam

As Autumn tightens its grip and a sense of tranquillity settles over St Ives once more, the changing season provides a myriad of reasons to treat yourself to a blustery Autumn getaway. At the Sail Lofts, you are perfectly placed to enjoy all that the town has to offer whilst being ensconced in one of our luxury apartments.

Picture starting your day with a bracing walk in the morning sunshine, the shoreline of Porthmeor lies just a stone's throw from your door. A hearty breakfast in the beach cafe will most certainly be in order, not to mention well deserved. Why not enjoy your breakfast alfresco in one of Porthmeor Cafe's covered and heated pods? The blankets provided - along with plenty of freshly ground coffee - ought to be enough to keep the crisp air at bay.

For those who are keen for some slightly more vigorous activity, this time of year presents the perfect climate for long walks around the surrounding area. The coastal path from Porthmeor to Zennor isn't for the faint hearted, with the walk taking around 6 hours -  however we highly recommend you make a day of it; stopping for lunch at the end of your journey will see you handsomely rewarded for your efforts. The traditional, cosy bar of The Tinners Arms is a welcome refuge from the elements and boasts a menu full of fresh, local ingredients and real ale. Any four legged friends are more than welcome in the bar and from The Tinners, St Ives is just a short bus ride or taxi away. Should you set your sights on exploring further afield, our designated parking makes it a breeze to come and go as you wish throughout your stay.

Of course, it isn't all Autumnal vistas and muddy boots; with the summer crowds behind us, St Ives is prime for shopping and sight seeing. Staying in one of the Sail Lofts luxury apartments means you are just a couple of minutes walk away from the heart of the town. Whilst perusing the boutiques and galleries, be sure not to miss the Farmer's Market which takes place every Thursday in the Guildhall. The market provides a fantastic opportunity to meet the makers behind the local produce we love and you'll find yourself taking home everything from jam to gin.

As St Ives moves into sleepier months, October is an opportune time of year for foodies and art lovers to visit - galleries can be taken in without the crowds and restaurants can be enjoyed on a whim without fear of being fully booked. Should you be out late, you'll find live music in venues such as The Castle, the Queens Hotel and the Western Hotel in Royal Square, home to St Ives Jazz Club.

Whether it's a weekend walking break to blow away the cobwebs, or a week-long respite that's in order, at the Sail Lofts we provide the perfect base for both relaxing and exploring. With twelve luxury apartments in the heart of St Ives why not check availability today and start the count down to your Autumn break?
