October Half Term is Here
October Half Term is finally upon us, school takes a break and St Ives takes on the familiar buzz of the school holidays, but as we welcome back everyone before the winter holidays the question on people's minds is what is to do during the half term week? There's so much taking place far and wide in the county from days out at the Eden Project to wonderful afternoons crafting chocolate, and who doesn't like that. So as we approach the week in question here's a list of what's on offer for everyone who are here to enjoy St Ives this October Half Term.
What's on this October Half Term
Just a short drive to St Austell and you will be at Eden, with its Biomes and exhibitions centred in amongst the Cornish landscape. This Half Term the Eden Project have dedicated their week to the works of Roald Dahl, from Fantastic Mr Fox to The Twits, BFG and Matilda there is something for everyone and maybe even something to remind the grown ups what it's like to step back into their childhood. Why not even try out some of the ice-skating on offer if you're feeling brave enough!
If you love chocolate, as many of us do then why not pay a visit to the new Coco Kitchen, it's the perfect place to go for a day out in the town testing what you're able to create in the kitchen. After this if you fancy a warming hot chocolate and a bite to eat you can It's a wonderful way to make a day out memorable as the whole family can create something memorable and tasty.
Not much needs to be said about the Tate, it's one of the most iconic images of St Ives and attracts people year round to enjoy what's on offer. After renovations that have opened up new spaces for the gallery the site is currently home to both Rebecca Warren's 'All That Heaven Allows' and a look at Modern Art and St Ives, looking back upon works that have made the town so iconic in the artistic realm. Cornwall without question has some of the most picturesque landscapes to explore, the best part is that it's so close to the door of your luxury apartment in St Ives, all you need to do is venture forth and explore. With so much opportunity coupled with the perfect weather throughout the season there's little reason to not brave the journey to Zennor, or explore the miles of South West Coastal Path at hand for you to soak up what makes the county so wonderful.
Featured on the Tuesday and Wednesday of Half Term Week is the opportunity to flex everyone's creativity at Leach Pottery's Clay Days. These fun family-orientated creative opportunities are an excellent way to impart the artistic heritage of St Ives on every member of the family. Learn how to sculpt and create some impressive sculptures of ornate tiles. Alongside this Leach offer drop in sessions on Thursday to stop by and practice throwing or hand building for you to dust up on your pottery skills.
