A concierge guide to luxury self catering in St Ives: Part 1

Katy Peck

With our office being centrally located within the inner courtyard of the Sail Lofts luxury self catering apartments in St Ives, we are always privy to what our guests get up to during their time away for home. Giving us an amazing insight in to how best to make use of your time away.

During guest’s stays with the Sail Lofts many will pop in to say hi, ask for recommendations, and share their own experiences of the day and night before, giving us brilliant food for thought when it comes to experiencing time in St Ives for ourselves, and for suggesting to others.

So depending on what type of guest you are we have an exhaustive list of activities, places to go, and things to do in St Ives.

Personally as a lazy holidaymaker myself I am going to start with my favourite things to do in St Ives, when I am in need of rest, relaxation and a little tender loving care…

Beaches in St Ives

Regardless of the weather it has been proven that time spent by the sea is the best antidote for improving your sense of well being. In St Ives you are spoilt for choice, so arm yourself with your Sail Lofts windbreak and beach towels, that you will find by the door in your luxury self catering apartment and head for one of the following beaches:

Porthmeor – Moments from your doorstep your toes will be sinking in the sand in a matter of seconds. With acres of open sandy space, find a spot and face out towards the Atlantic and spend the day watching the boat trips from the harbour sailing by.

Harbour Beach – Pick up a green tea from Pels and enjoy watching the world go by on the Harbour Beach, this busy little fishing town has it all going on. From the bobbing boats, to Summer seals that scour the harbour walls at high tide, you can be in your own little world enjoying the sights as things roll on around you.

Porthminster – A little further afield from your luxury self catering apartment in St Ives, but with views of the whole of the St Ives Bay. You can enjoy a different vista of a coastal frontier. From the distant Godrevy Harbour, right round in to the Hayle estuary and beyond, this is a great spot for lying back and relaxing with your favourite book.

Luxury St Ives

Being away from the routine and bogged down in day-to-day life is the perfect time to indulge in a spot of pampering.

Sail Lofts Ocean Spa – Onsite we have our very own treatment room, offering a range of luxury treatments by our highly skilled therapists with a combined 15 years experience. Treatments range from Elemis facials to Thai foot massage, and this month has seen the introduction of our very own Cornish Organic Trevarno Facial, that is designed to leave your skin feeling soft and rejuvenated.

St Ives Harbour Spa – With panoramic views of the St Ives Bay booking yourself in for a spa day during your self catering break in St Ives is a must. I love this wonderful location, and I can happily spend the day circuiting from lounger and magazine on the terrace, to Jacuzzi and swimming pool, finishing in the steam room and sauna. Then repeat.
