| Frequently Asked
Questions - THE SLIPWAY
Q: How close to the beach is The Slipway?
A: Very close – it is only about 20 metres
across the road and down the slipway to
Porthmeor Beach. The other beaches in St. Ives
are also within easy walking distance.
Q: How many people does The Slipway sleep?
A: Six in three double bedrooms.
Q: Is there any additional sleeping capacity?
A: We do not advertise The Slipway as being
suitable for more than six people. However,
there is a sofa bed in the top floor studio room
which you are welcome to use, but please note
that if you do, you will need to bring your own
bed linen (ie. sheets, duvet cover, pillow cases
and towels).
Q: Do we need to bring our own bed linen?
A: No, apart from the sofa bed (see above) we
provide all bed linen. This will be clean and
freshly laundered when you arrive. If you are
staying for more than a week, we will provide a
change of bed linen after the first week. If you
want additional bed linen laundered while you
are staying at the property, we can normally
arrange this for an additional charge, but we
need to know in advance.
Q: Do you provide towels?
A: Yes, each guest (up to a maximum of six) will
be provided with one set of towels (one bath
towel and one hand towel). If you need
additional towels, you should bring these with
you.
Q: What about beach towels?
A: The towels we provide must not be removed
from the property or taken on the beach. As many
of our guests come from outside the UK and have
luggage restrictions, we also keep some large
beach towels at the property. However, this is
in addition to the towels provided at the
property and if you use the beach towels
provided, we expect them to be washed, dried and
rolled back into the basket in the entrance
prior to your departure. If this is not done, we
are happy to launder them for you at a charge of
£3.75 per towel. If you do not want to use the
beach towels we provide on this basis, please
bring your own beach towels.
Q: Do I need to bring soap and toilet rolls?
A: We provide toilet rolls and a small bar of
complimentary soap, but you will probably wish
to bring your own supply of bath/shower soap and
shampoo.
Q. Are there laundry facilities at The
Slipway?
A. Yes, there is a Utility Room with a sink,
automatic washing machine, separate tumble
dryer, iron and ironing board.

fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. We provide all
the usual cutlery, plates, glasses, pans, tea
towels etc.

telephones located at various points in St.

access points in St. Ives (eg. at The Sloop
Inn). There is also a GPRS signal at The

water. Explanations of how to use the heating

will normally be switched off when you arrive.
The instructions are in the Information file at
the property.
Q: How many sets of keys are there?
A: You will be provided with three sets of keys.
The first set will be sent prior to or given to
you upon arrival. You will find the second and
third set of keys on the round kitchen table
when you arrive. When you leave, please leave
the spare sets of keys on the round kitchen
table and post the other set through the
letterbox after you have locked the door behind

unload from there if possible.

Slipway if we have questions after we arrive?
A: Yes, there is a comprehensive Information
File at the property which you will find on the
round kitchen table. This should answer any
questions which you may have. It also contains
details of emergency numbers.
Q: Do I need a car to get around in St. Ives?
A: No, The Slipway is ideally located and is
within easy walking distance of all the shops,
cafes, restaurants and art galleries in St Ives.
It is also close to the beaches. If you want to
explore further afield in Cornwall, a car is
useful, although not essential, as there are
good train, bus and coach services to many
